What We Offer
Vicinity Credit Union is a community of lifelong learners. After all, we were founded by educators! It’s our duty to support the next generation’s educational goals, and we’re proud to do so by offering annual scholarships.
Whether pursuing an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, certification, or apprenticeship, recipients will be able to use scholarship funds to help cover tuition, transportation costs, or any other education-related expenses.

Applicant Eligibility
- Have an immediate family member (parent, stepparent, grandparent, sibling) or legal guardian who is a current member of the Vicinity Credit Union and has been for at least 6 months as of Friday, May 16, 2025. We may request additional information to verify credit union membership.
- Graduate from an accredited Illinois high school.
- Enroll in an accredited institution for post-high school education or training.
- Participate in school, sports, clubs, employment, and/or community volunteer activities.
- Submit an essay (typed, double-spaced with a 250-word minimum and 500 maximum).
- Include a letter of recommendation that addresses academics and participation in the school community.
- Possess a minimum, cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.4 scale.

Selection Committee
The Vicinity Credit Union Scholarship Committee will review all submitted, eligible applications. Once reviewed, the committee will choose five recipients for scholarship awards. Applicants will be contacted if additional information is required. All decisions of the Vicinity Credit Union Scholarship Committee are final.
