A Letter from the President – Staying Steady When the World Isn’t

By Mario Aguirre, President & CEO, Vicinity Credit Union
Dear Members,

As we reach the midpoint of 2025, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the path we’ve traveled together – and the road ahead.

At the start of this year, many hoped for economic stability. Yet by June, we’ve navigated persistent inflation, shifts in consumer confidence, and growing uncertainty about what lies ahead. Pew Research shows that fewer Americans feel optimistic about the economy, while everyday decisions – from groceries to gas – feel more complicated than ever.

At Vicinity Credit Union, we don’t just see the headlines – we see you. Your concerns, your resilience, and your need for financial support that feels human. Unlike traditional banks, we’re member-owned and mission-driven. That means we put people before profits… every time.

Whether you’re planning for a major purchase, managing debt, or simply trying to stretch each paycheck further, our team is here. Not just with services, but with empathy, advice, and a genuine desire to help you thrive.

Together, we’ve weathered challenging seasons before. And together, we’ll do it again. The future may feel uncertain, but one thing is not: Vicinity Credit Union will continue to stand by you, every step of the way.

With gratitude and resolve,

Mario Aguirre
President & CEO
Vicinity Credit Union

Member Spotlight: A Lifetime of Loyalty with Vicinity

For more than 50 years, Patricia Knazze – a proud educator and community pillar – has trusted Vicinity Credit Union as her financial partner. From strike loans in the ’80s to estate planning and summer loan programs, she’s seen it all. Her journey is a testament to the power of consistency, community, and service.

"My teaching experiences opened a challenging world for me… having to manage family, work, and especially finances," Knazze said. "Fortunately, I was encouraged by experienced teachers and my parents to check out a credit union in addition to my bank for meeting my financial goals."

"Most important is financial and credit counseling. Financial seminars and workshops. Estate planning, great information about student loans, etc.," she added. "Most important of all is the friendly, prompt, highly professional service on all levels, at all branches."

From all of us at Vicinity Credit Union—thank you, Patricia! We’re honored to have been your financial partner through the decades and are proud to continue serving members like you with care and commitment.
